Our call — vote NO
The measure
The Washington Elementary School District (Maricopa County) asks voters on November 3, 2026 to approve a Maintenance & Operations (M&O) budget override — authority to exceed the district's state-set revenue control limit, funded by a levy on taxable property in the district, for operations. The district's governing-board race was cancelled this cycle; this money question is its ballot item.
What YES does
A YES vote authorizes the M&O override for its term, funding operations above the state formula limit from the override levy.
What NO does
A NO vote denies the authority. The district operates within the state limit, and any existing override continues its phase-down on its existing schedule.
The math
The pamphlet data retrieved for this question states no override percentage, no total dollar amount, no tax rate, and no estimated cost to the average homeowner, and it does not establish whether this continues an existing override at the same rate or asks for more. None of those figures can be priced from the material retrieved, and we estimate none of them.
OUR CALL
Our call: no call.
Voters are asked for operations money with none of the pricing printed in the material retrieved — no percentage, no total, no rate, no homeowner cost. That is a disclosure failure, and it is the district's to fix. Until the math is printed, we make no call.
