Endorses Land

The race

Georgia Supreme Court, Land seat (special), is uncontested: Benjamin Land was the sole candidate and was re-elected May 19, 2026, to a full six-year term. Barring a write-in upset, Land holds the seat. Georgia judicial races are nonpartisan; alignment is inferred from appointing governors, disclosed here.

Land's ascent is a three-governor Republican ladder, each step documented: appointed to the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit superior court by Governor Nathan Deal in February 2018; appointed to the Court of Appeals by Governor Brian Kemp on July 20, 2022, then elected statewide to a full term in 2024; appointed to the Supreme Court by Kemp on July 24, 2025, succeeding Chief Justice Michael Boggs. The credentials underneath are exceptional: first in his undergraduate class at the University of Georgia (4.0 GPA, summa cum laude) and second in his UGA law class of 202, Order of the Coif, Georgia Law Review editorial board, clerk to a Georgia Supreme Court justice — then 26 years of complex civil litigation in Columbus, record-setting verdicts, and leadership of nationwide class-action defenses, plus presidencies of the Columbus Bar Association and Columbus Inn of Court and the State Bar's William B. Spann Jr. Award for pro bono advocacy. Kemp's appointment statement praised his "commitment to fairness and impartiality, his strong work ethic, and his integrity."

Pros and cons

Land: Credits: The full ladder — trial judge, appellate judge, justice — with an academic and litigation record few state justices match, and a statewide election win (2024) already on the file. Dirt/limits: No ethics or discipline file surfaced; the honest limit is tenure — his Supreme Court service at re-election was under a year, so his high-court record is still being written. Unproven at this level is recorded as unproven, not as a flaw and not as a credit.

OUR CALL

Our call: endorse Benjamin Land. Inference basis disclosed: appointed by Republican Governors Deal and Kemp at three levels, with trial and appellate records that affirmatively fit our standard of experienced, impartial judging. The record we can verify earns the endorsement; the record still to come is noted honestly above.

Vote Benjamin Land.
