Endorses Warren
The race
Georgia Supreme Court, Warren seat, was decided in the nonpartisan election of May 19, 2026: Presiding Justice Sarah Hawkins Warren defeated Jen Jordan, 59.3% to 40.7%. Georgia judicial races are nonpartisan; alignment is inferred from appointing governors, careers, and endorsers, disclosed here.
Sarah Hawkins Warren — Incumbent, Presiding Justice. Appointed September 17, 2018, by Republican Governor Nathan Deal; re-elected in 2020. Her pre-bench career is the state's top appellate job: Solicitor General of Georgia (2017–2018) under Attorney General Chris Carr, before that deputy solicitor general and special counsel for water litigation, a Kirkland & Ellis litigation partner, clerkships with Eleventh Circuit Chief Judge J.L. Edmondson and Judge Richard J. Leon, and service on the Federalist Society's executive committee at Duke Law. She argued before the U.S. Supreme Court as Georgia's chief appellate lawyer. On the court she voted in 2024 to reinstate the LIFE Act. After re-election she said the court "is a nonpartisan court by constitutional design, and I am thankful that it will stay that way." Endorsed by CatholicVote; backed by Governor Kemp.
Jen Jordan — Challenger. Former Democratic state senator (District 6, 2017–2023) who left the Senate to run for attorney general in 2022 and lost. She launched this campaign jointly with Miracle Rankin at Liberty Plaza, introduced by reproductive- and voting-rights advocates, framing the court as "the last line of defense" for rights — and drew endorsements from Planned Parenthood Votes, Reproductive Freedom for All, EMILY's List, End Citizens United, Fair Fight Action, the Democratic Party of Georgia, and, per race reporting, former President Obama and former Vice President Harris.
Pros and cons
Warren: Credits: The strongest appellate résumé in Georgia politics — solicitor general, Supreme Court argument, two federal clerkships; eight years on the court including as presiding justice; restraint proven in the LIFE Act vote. Dirt/limits: No ethics or discipline file surfaced; her Federalist Society ties are a credential under our values and a target under her opponents' — both stated, neither hidden. Jordan: Credits: Six years a state senator and a statewide campaign behind her; legislative experience is real governing service. Dirt/limits: Never a judge; a career Democratic officeholder whose campaign promised the court would have voters' "back" on contested rights questions — an outcome-commitment philosophy, backed by the abortion industry's $750,000 Planned Parenthood Votes campaign against the incumbents.
OUR CALL
Our call: endorse Sarah Hawkins Warren. Inference basis disclosed: Deal appointee, Republican solicitor general, Federalist Society roots, proven restraint on the bench — against a Democratic former senator running an explicit rights-referendum campaign. This was not close on the record, and voters agreed by nearly 20 points.
Vote Sarah Hawkins Warren.
