Race notes

NO INCUMBENT ON BALLOT — PRE-DRAFT CONFIRM 2026-10-24 (research tranche 1): Cassidy is NOT the nominee and NOT on the general ballot. He was eliminated in the May 16, 2026 Republican primary, finishing THIRD (Letlow 44.8%, Fleming 28.3%, Cassidy 24.8%); Letlow then beat Fleming in the June 27 runoff 56.9%-43.1% with Trump's endorsement. Confirmed by AP (June 27, 2026), CNN (June 27, 2026), Wikipedia '2026 United States Senate election in Louisiana', and BR Weekly Press (Oct 2026). CORRECTION to prior note wording: Cassidy did not lose a head-to-head renomination vote 'to Letlow' — he failed to reach the runoff. Effectively an open race in the general election.
